Pictures...I know

I know, I know. I said I would post pictures last week and didn't, but isn't it just good enough that I'm actually updating more often??? Ahhh...Ok, I'll post pictures...next week though!

On the move

Its official, Isaac is moving and moving fast. He can now go from the crawling position, to the sitting up position and back again. He’s much happier now that he can move his body the way he’s wanted to for a while. He is more “bear” crawling than anything. He takes a few “crawls” in a tradition crawling position, realizes it would take him way too long to get where he wants to go and then drops onto his belly and bear crawls the rest of the way. He’s fast! The days of just running outside real quick are O.V.E.R!!! That’s ok that, I’m embracing and enjoying every stage, even the two feedings a night! This time is too precious to not enjoy one stage or another.

sleeping..or lack there of

We started sleep training, for the 3rd time, last night. It didn’t go so well, for any of us, but hopefully tonight will be better. Isaac continues to get up twice a night and it’s about time this Mama got a good 7 hours of straight sleep! Although, I know what will happen; Isaac will adjust just fine and it will take my body an extra week to realize I don’t have to wake up to feed him. At least in the end, we’ll both end up with more sleep, hopefully.

Sick Nugget

Isaac has had a terrible cough and cold the last week or so. It seems every time I take him to see the Dr. they tell me the same thing, “it’s viral, and you have to let it run its course”. So this time, no trip to the Dr. just lots of love, Vicks and medication. Thankfully it sounds like he is on the upswing of things, which is a relief because I don’t love having a sick baby.

Pictures

Ok, so I know pictures are the best part of a blog, at least I think so! I promise to upload some this week!! I'll even try to find ones that aren't on facebook!

Baby Bird

Now that the weather is getting cooler, Isaac and I have been venturing out for morning walks. It is so nice to finally be able to get outside, I swear I have cabin fever and it’s summer time! With the sun being as hot as it is here, it’s hard to go for a walk when it’s 100 or above, mainly because I feel like I’m burning Isaac by doing so. Even with extra shade and mounds of sun block, it just doesn’t seem right. Thankfully the “HOT” period is over, now it’s just 98 out! But I’ll take that over 108 for now. I’m looking forward to the cooler days, when it’s actually cool during the middle of the day and we can get outside after 10am.

Anyway, back to my story. So our walks. I strive to go at least 2 miles, just to make it more of a workout/calorie burning session for me. Lately, Isaac has been looking back and up at me, just making sure that I’m still there, I guess. The other day I took a banana with me, thinking I would eat it for breakfast. Boy was I wrong. Isaac got one glimpse of that and wanted his part in it too! So every few minutes, he would tilt his head back and look up at me, mouth wide open, just waiting for me to drop a piece of banana in there. “Hello baby bird, yes, I see you, yes I know you want food…here you go”.

Downward Dog

Isaac is still not crawling, in the tradition sense. He does get where he wants to go and move around VERY well. Thankfully, at least for the moment, we are past the irritated stage. For a while there, he would try to crawl, give up, lay face down and cry with his arms and legs up in the air. It was cute at first, but then we both became irritated. Now he’s much more content playing and moving around by himself again, which is great, because I like to get some stuff done while he’s up and playing! (Don’t get me wrong, I love to sit with him and play, and we have some great times together, but there are times when he’s playing without me and I sneak away-always within eye sight-to do the dishes, fold the clothes or read a magazine!)
Over the last week, he’s decided he would much rather push off his hands and stand on his feet, similar to the “downward dog” position in yoga. Oh, it’s precious. I really should get it on camera one of these days.

Feeding himself

Goodbye baby food, hello small cut up piece of “adult” food. Yes, Isaac is loving feeding himself. He takes a bite, follows it up with a loud “ummmhhhhh” and goes for the next handful of food! We do our best to get in a few bits of “baby” food, just to make sure he’s getting enough to eat, but for the most part he would much rather have real food. Can’t say I blame him!
